Summer releases pt. i (Nutria & The Granfalloons)

Alright folks. Cowboy Angel hit ya with a few fantastic releases back in late spring and word on the street’s been trickling in over the summer months. Here’s the 410 from the 706.

Nutria‘s seven-song gem Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Emotion got some fine press and radio play on Taproot Radio and WRAS in Atlanta, Tues. Night Americana Music Club (Netherlands) and Hillbilly Rockhouse (Germany), plus others.

Here’s Jeff Clark, from the pages of Stomp & Stammer:
“Athens-based band Nutria match witty lyrics with rollicking, tremendously likeable pop-rock, heavy on harmonies and passionate, poignant delivery. Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Emotion.. is a 30-minute reason to rejoice in the poetic magic that can be conjured by the simplest, most straightforward rock ‘n’ roll.”

The folks in Europe are diggin’ it. Have a look at reviews from Americana UK (“imagine Neil Young fronting “A.M.”-era Wilco playing the Rolling Stones back catalogue produced by REM… classic Americana”), Kindamuzik, Altcountryforum (“… like the earlier work of REM, The Who, and The Beatles… Brilliant compositions, propelled by a catchy rhythm full of beautiful harmonies.”), (“nice rattling rock album… like a raw version of Big Star”), and Beat Surrender.

Don’t miss Nutria back in action at the Caledonia Lounge in Athens on Thurs. October 14th!

The Granfalloons‘ brand of catchy Americana on their debut Songs to Sing has been featured on Americana OK, Taproot Radio, Inner FM’s Folk & Roots down in Australia, and other fine stations. Altcontryforum (“Tastefully arranged catchy pop songs.. echoes of Smog, The Jayhawks, and Wilco” and Americana UK have both chimed in with reviews. Songs to Sing was the spotlight on Songriver’s July programs and also got spins on Tuesday Night Americana Music Club (Netherlands) and Hillybilly Rockhouse in Deutschland!
