“Dugu Wolo” heats up..

Some great press has begun trickling in this past month about Lassine Kouyate (Adam Klein)‘s latest release, the rustic acoustic Malian Mande record, Dugu Wolo.

Check out Flagpole Magazine’s article & CD review (“damn good”), along with fine write-ups on SoundRoots (“a bridge between two worlds”), UK’s Flyin Shoes (“A remarkably soulful record, leaving a warm glow in its wake… there is a sublime beauty to the interplay of instruments.. a rather beautiful piece of work.”), and Inside World Music (“Anyone interested in the guitar and blues sounds of Boubacar Traore, Lobi Traore, Ali Farka Toure, Salif Keita, and Toumani Diabate, among others, will find joy and solace in this amazing collection of songs”).

Klein and his band, The Wild Fires, along with ace Athens percussionists Sunny Ortiz (Widespread Panic) and Jim Wilson (Don Chambers & Goat, Madeline) performed songs from Dugu Wolo at the famed Georgia Theatre last night, opening for Mande rock/jam fusion act Toubab Krewe.
